Local community groups, especially those from certain wards, are being encouraged to apply for a Ward Grant, which offers up to £350 to support community initiatives.
With fewer applications from Exwick, Duryard, St James, and Pennsylvania Wards, community groups in these areas specifically are being encouraged to apply.
The grants support community projects such as festivals, theatre productions, or craft groups. Eligible costs include equipment, resources, publicity, materials, and refreshments.
The total budget is £39,000, with each Ward allocated £3,000 to support local community initiatives.
Due to limited availability of funding and high demand, it should be noted that there is no guarantee that an applicant will receive the full funding amount applied for.
Ward Grants are intended for one-off purchases or events and cannot be used for ongoing expenses like wages, utility bills, rent, or recurring fees for facilitators or musicians.
For more information or help with applying, community groups are encouraged to reach out to their local Ward Councillors or Community Builders. The Exeter City Council Communities Team is also available to help.
Applications must demonstrate clear community support and show how local people have been involved in shaping the project.
Groups that have previously received funding from Exeter City Council must ensure they have completed an impact evaluation for completed projects within two weeks of project completion, before applying for any further funding.
Applications and further guidance are also available on the Exeter City Council website: Exeter Ward Grants - Exeter City Council
