In local rugby on Saturday, after last week's narrow home win over Bournemouth, Exmouth Cockles continued their improved form with a convincing 35-22 victory over Brixham at Anstey Park and remain fifth in the South West Premier League

In local rugby on Saturday, after last week's narrow home win over Bournemouth, Exmouth Cockles continued their improved form with a convincing 35-22 victory over Brixham at Anstey Park and remain fifth in the South West Premier League but the surprise of the day was leaders Exeter University being knocked of the top loosing by 20 points to 10 at lowly Cambourne in Cornwall.
In the South West One Sidmouth also caused an upset beating second placed St Austell 18-16 at Tregorrick Road but Crediton went down 21-6 at home to Keynsham.
In the Devon derby fixture in the Western Counties Division, Tiverton gained bragging rights with a 32-17 victory over visitors Teignmouth at Bolham Road but Honiton remain bottom after another defeat loosing 43 -0 at Chard. Finally in the Devon and Cornwall League Withycombe got back to winning ways after three heavy defeats, with a narrow 13 points to 10 win at Raleigh Park over Cornish side Liskeard/Looe and Topsham remain second after a thumping 62-17 win over Tavistock at the Bonfire Field with Inform Cullompton beating North Tawton 33-0 at Stafford Park and moving up to third spot.
