In local rugby on Saturday Exmouth Cockles were heavily defeated at Weston Super Mare for the second week running, this time by second placed Hornets losing 62 points to 22 in a game they never looked like winning but never gave up trying.

In local rugby on Saturday Exmouth Cockles were heavily defeated at Weston Super Mare for the second week running, this time by second placed Hornets losing 62 points to 22 in a game they never looked like winning but never gave up trying while Exeter University continue to dominate the Premier League with a 59-20 victory at Ivybridge and stay firmly at the top.

In the south West One Division Sidmouth narrowly lost at the Blackmore Ground eventually going down 27-22 to fellow devonians Crediton.

In the Western Counties League Teignmouth had a surprisingly easy victory over fifth placed Chard by 46-3 at Bitton Park and Tiverton beat visitors Burnham on Sea 38-25 at Bolham Road but the result of the day went to Honiton who registered their first win of the season beating Paignton 35-31 at Queen's Park.

Finally in the Devon and Cornwall Division Withycombe got back to winning form with a narrow 32-27 victory in Cornwall over Veor and Topsham kept up the pressure on the league leaders with a close run win over third placed Cullompton by 22 points to 20 at the Bonfire Field.
