In a significant move towards improving the town’s amenities for both residents and visitors, Teignmouth Town Council has completed the demolition of the old aquarium.
This initiative marks the beginning of an exciting project aimed at revitalising the space with the construction of new, modern public toilets designed to cater for the needs of the entire community.
This strategic decision was made following the closure of the Upper Den Carriage Way for the summer, enabling the Council to take advantage of this period of reduced activity to minimise disruption for both residents and visitors.
“By aligning the demolition timeline with this period, we ensured the work was concluded swiftly and with minimal impact on our community and the influx of visitors we anticipate during our busy peak season,” explains a spokesperson for the Town Council.
The construction of the new, modern toilet block will commence later in the year, post-peak season. This phased approach ensures that the new facilities will be ready for use without interfering with the bustling summer months. These efforts reflect Teignmouth Town Council’s ongoing commitment to improving public spaces and amenities and are part of a broader initiative to ensure Teignmouth remains a welcoming and well-equipped destination.
