Remembrance Services across Torbay to mark Armistice Day

Remembrance Services and Ceremonies will take place across Torbay on Sunday 9 November and Tuesday 11 November.

Torbay's communities unite annually on Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day to remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community of the UK and Commonwealth, and all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life. Remembrance is an opportunity for people from all faiths, cultures and backgrounds to join together and remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community of the UK and Commonwealth, past and present.

To complement National Remembrance Services, Remembrance Services, Civic Parades and quiet moments of reflection will be taking place locally in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.

Cllr Barbara Lewis, The Worshipful Mayor of Torbay, said; "Remembrance is a time for our communities to come together and show our respect for those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the two World Wars and in more recent conflicts.

"It also is an opportunity to show our appreciation of the work that our Armed Forces carry out today to keep us safe. Wearing a poppy is a meaningful way to show your support and appreciation for our Armed Forces community. By purchasing one, you help fund the vital work of the Royal British Legion which supports those currently serving, as well as veterans and their families.

Please come along and join us for our Remembrance Services, if you are able to do so."
