Multi agency rescue for two swimmers stranded on rocks at Exmouth

Exmouth Coastguard Team were tasked to a Multi Agency Incident alongside Beer Coastguard Rescue Team. An immediate launch of both Exmouth Lifeboats RNLI Exmouth as we all as South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and the Newquay Coastguard Rescue Helicopter.

Solent Coastguard received multiple reports from members of public that two swimmers had got into difficulty at sea and were stranded on rocks.

Exmouth ILB tried to veer in but due to complex conditions it was decided to put a crew ashore and standby for the helicopter attendance.

Exmouth’s Shannon Class Lifeboat stood by supporting the Inshore Boat.

Exmouth Coastguards stood by for immediate water rescue, whilst remaining Exmouth members and Beer Coastguard set up a Helicopter Landing Site (HLS) with first aid assistance.

The casualties were transferred safely in to the care of Coastguards and Ambulance.

Always take care whilst swimming and use the lifeguarded areas where possible.
