Cranbrook Town Council welcomed hundreds of residents and sports enthusiasts to the Ingrams site on Saturday, 19 September 2026, to celebrate the official opening of the newly completed Ingrams Sports Pitches and Pavilion.
The Community Fun Day marked a major milestone for the town, showcasing the sports and social facilities now fully available for public and club hire. Attendees enjoyed a vibrant lineup of sports games, free trials and demonstrations, interactive family activities, and refreshments at the community cafe, culminating in an official ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside invited civic guests and community partners, including Dr Ann Ralli, Founder and Life President of Devon Air Ambulance.
Councillor Vikki Wright, Chair of Cranbrook Town Council, said: " Opening Ingrams provides Cranbrook with a new venue for sports, health, community gatherings, private and business events. We hope the community will make full use of the pitches, pavilion, and Multi-Use Games Area to connect, socialise and maintain an active lifestyle. Delivering this facility has required significant effort, and I want to extend a sincere thank you to our council team, ground maintenance crew, and project partners who worked to get the site ready."
The complete Ingrams site features:
- The Ingrams Pavilion: A modern facility with four team changing rooms, four referee changing rooms, and a versatile 90m² social space complete with kitchen facilities, ideal for post-match events, meetings, and private functions.
- Pro-Standard Pitches: An eight-wicket cricket square and outfield, a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), and a range of adult and junior football pitches maintained to Football Association (FA) and England Cricket Board (ECB) standards.
- Emergency & Civic Infrastructure: Features a designated Devon Air Ambulance Community Landing Site for night-time emergencies.
- Convenient Access: On-site parking for 52 cars, two coaches, and dedicated bicycle parking.
With the launch event complete, all facilities are now open for regular bookings. Local sports clubs, community organisations, and private hirers are encouraged to reserve their spaces for the upcoming season.
