East Devon has been ranked top nationally for the lowest amount of residual household waste per household in the latest recycling and waste league table. This is a significant achievement and reflects the consistent commitment of residents alongside the dedication of collection crews and the wider recycling and waste team.
The district has now retained a top ten position in the national league table for at least the last five years, demonstrating sustained high performance in recycling and waste reduction.
The latest result underlines the effectiveness of East Devon’s approach and provides a strong foundation to build upon as the delivery of recycling and waste services transfers later this year to council‑owned company EdenServ. The council anticipates that the same high standards of performance and customer focus will continue through the transition and beyond.
Councillor Geoff Jung, Portfolio Holder Environment – Operations, said:
“This is a fantastic result for East Devon and something we can all be proud of. Keeping residual waste as low as possible and maintaining a strong recycling rate takes a real team effort, and I want to thank residents as well as our recycling and waste team for everything they do week in, week out. Consistently performing at this level over a number of years gives us real confidence as we move into the next phase of service delivery.”
A huge thank you goes to everyone who recycles and plays their part in keeping East Devon performing so strongly year after year.
