Exmouth Town Council Honours Former County Councillor Christine Channon for 30 Years of Dedicated Service

Representatives of Exmouth Town Council gathered on Cranford Avenue to pay tribute to retired County Councillor Christine Channon, recognising her remarkable 30 years of service to Exmouth and, in particular, the Littleham community.

Deputy Mayor Councillor Dianne Conduit and Town Clerk Lisa Bowman joined local councillors and residents for the occasion. In honour of Christine’s longstanding commitment, a silver birch tree – her favourite – was planted by the Exmouth Town Council’s Town Maintenance team in the autumn. Now in full leaf, the tree stands as a living tribute to her decades of dedication. A commemorative plaque marking her years of service was presented and will be installed beside the tree.

Councillor Mark Williamson, Town Councillor for Littleham Ward, spoke warmly about Christine’s tireless support for residents, her close partnership with fellow councillors, and her unwavering encouragement of local organisations throughout her tenure.

Expressing her gratitude, Christine thanked the Council and the community for making her years of service so rewarding. She offered her best wishes to Littleham’s residents – and to the newly planted tree – for the years ahead.
