Residents in Exeter are being reminded to make sure they are ready to vote in next week's City Council elections.
Exeter will go the polls on Thursday 7 May, with elections across all 13 wards in the city. A total of 55 polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm on the day for people to vote.
Poll cards will have now been sent out to all those who are voting on the day. Those who are unsure where their polling station is can find out by visiting the City Council website and entering the address or postcode at https://my.exeter.gov.uk/service/Polling_Station_Finder
Voters are being reminded that they will need to bring appropriate photo ID to the polling station on the day.
A passport, driving licence, or an older person’s bus pass are just three of a number of forms of ID that are accepted.
For a full list of accepted ID, people can visit the Electoral Commission website at www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voting-and-elections/voter-id/accepted-forms-photo-id
Thousands of voters have opted for a postal vote. These were sent out on 23 April and the Council is urging people to return their postal votes as soon as possible.
Even if people do forget to post it back, postal votes can be returned at a polling station in Exeter on the day of the vote. However, due to new legislation, everyone who does so on the day, will need to complete a form when returning it at a polling station.
