Exeter’s historic Guildhall has been decorated with beautiful, knitted poppies in readiness for Remembrance.
These handmade poppies were created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War and were previously displayed at Exeter Cathedral in 2017.
Now adorning the Guildhall, they provide a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by so many and the importance of keeping their memory alive.
Remembrance Sunday is an opportunity to reflect, remember and honour all those who served, those who lost their lives, and those who continue to serve today.
The poppies will be on display until the 12 November.
Exeter’s Remembrance Sunday Service will take place in Northernhay Gardens on Sunday 8 November, and everyone is welcome to attend.
The city will fall silent on Sunday during the Remembrance Day service which starts at 10.30am at the City War Memorial, in Northernhay Gardens.
The Lord Mayor, Cllr Gemma Rolstone, and other civic dignitaries will arrive at 10.50am, along with the Salamanca Band of the Rifles.
There will be a two minute’s silence at 11a, before the laying of wreaths by dignitaries and military representatives.
Everyone is welcome to attend. An Order of Service can be downloaded online and a limited number of paper versions will be available on the day.
The County Service will take place inside Exeter Cathedral and will start at 4pm.
