Residents are being asked to give their views in consultations on two important new strategies for Exeter.
The City Council is consulting on its draft Cultural Strategy 2026–2031 and its City Centre Strategy 2026–2031.
The Cultural Strategy sets out a vision for culture, creativity, heritage and wellbeing in the city. It aims to make Exeter a place where everyone feels creative confidence and can access, enjoy and take part in cultural life.
This survey asks for feedback on the vision and themes in the strategy, and the responses will help shape how culture is supported, developed and delivered across Exeter over the next five years.
The Council wants everyone who lives, works in or visits Exeter, to take part in the survey on the Council’s website: Exeter Cultural Strategy: 2026-31 | Engage Exeter
The City Centre Strategy sets out a vision for its appearance, safety, economy, living and connectivity.
It aims to capture pride in the city centre, whilst increasing the offer and range of experiences.
The city centre’s vitality is central to the quality of life experienced by both residents and visitors, and the strategy aims to ensure a sustainable future for the city centre.

Council Leader Phil Bialyk said: “Consulting with our residents is a key priority which helps to shape the decisions we make as a Council.
“Culture is very important to this city, and we want to ensure Exeter continues to be a place where everyone can access and enjoy a thriving cultural scene.
“We know Exeter city centre is a great place to visit, with great shops and cafes, and anti-social behaviour has fallen significantly in recent times. Exeter compares very favourably to other similar cities, and we are determined to keep it that way.
“I would urge everyone to take part in these very important consultations and make sure their voice is heard.”
For more information and to read both strategies and take part in the consultations visit the Council’s consultation website: Engage Exeter.
The consultations close on 29 June.
Paper copies of both surveys are available from reception at the Civic Centre, Paris Street, Exeter, EX1 1JN.
