Exmouth Town Council is delighted to welcome Open Door Exmouth to Exmouth Town Hall from January 2027
The move supports the Council’s vision of creating a thriving community hub at the Town Hall, bringing together organisations, services and activities that benefit local residents. By making space available to trusted local partners, the Council is helping to ensure that people can access a range of support, advice and community services in a central, accessible and welcoming environment.
Open Door’s new Support and Information Hub will provide a welcoming first point of contact for local people seeking information, advice and support. It will help residents access local services, address challenges before they reach crisis point and support efforts to prevent homelessness across the community.
Lisa Pike, CEO of Open Door Exmouth, said:
“We are thrilled to be delivering this new service and grateful for the support of the Ending Homelessness in Communities Fund.
We know that many people are feeling the impact of the rising cost of living and can find themselves needing support at different times in their lives. The new Town Hall hub will provide an accessible gateway to information, advice and signposting, while our Church Street base will continue to offer practical support and ongoing help for those who need it.
By bringing these services together, we hope to reach people earlier, prevent problems from escalating and ensure that everyone in our community knows where to turn for support.”
Alongside the new Town Hall hub, Open Door will continue to provide support Monday to Friday from its Church Street premises. There, people can access practical assistance including food, clothing and shower facilities, as well as support through the charity’s Community Café and wider services.
Town Clerk Lisa Bowman said:
“We are very pleased to be welcoming Open Door Exmouth to the Town Hall. One of our ambitions is to make the Town Hall a vibrant, welcoming and accessible space for the whole community. By bringing organisations such as Open Door into the building, we are creating a central place where residents can connect with support, advice and local services, helping to strengthen community resilience across Exmouth.
Open Door provides an invaluable service to local people, and we look forward to working alongside them and other community partners as we continue to develop the Town Hall as a community hub.”
Open Door’s move is just the beginning. The Town Council is actively working with other community organisations to expand the range of services and activities available from the Town Hall. Residents are encouraged to watch this space as further exciting announcements are made in the coming months.
