Pupils at Dunsford Community Academy, have enjoyed a fantastic Bikeability week, with Year 5 children developing essential cycling skills and road safety awareness in a fun and engaging programme.
With sunny weather throughout the week, pupils took full advantage of the conditions as they learned how to ride safely and confidently on local roads. The sessions focused on building independence, improving control of their bikes, and understanding how to navigate road situations responsibly.
Children showed excellent enthusiasm and determination across the week, working hard to develop new skills and supporting one another throughout the training. Staff praised the group for their positive attitudes, resilience and growing confidence on two wheels.
By the end of the week, pupils had made clear progress, with many demonstrating significantly improved control and awareness when cycling on the road.
The Bikeability programme is an important part of the school’s wider commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, independence and life skills beyond the classroom.
Liam O’Sullivan, headteacher at Dunsford Community Academy, said:
"We are incredibly proud of our Year 5 pupils for the enthusiasm and commitment they showed during Bikeability week. They embraced every challenge with a positive attitude and made excellent progress in developing their cycling skills and road safety awareness. It has been fantastic to see their confidence grow throughout the week."
