Wales & West Utilities is undertaking urgent work to repair a gas leak in the Queen Street area of Exeter.
As part of the emergency work it has been agreed that the following traffic management will be in place from Monday 9 November:
- Road closures on Richmond Road and Elm Grove Road, whilst there will be no access onto New North Road
- Four-way traffic lights on New North Road, Queen Street and Hele Road
- Once the initial works are complete, a tapered lane closure will be in place on Queen Street, where single file traffic will be able to go straight on and turn right
Wales & West Utilities has agreed this work with Devon County Council and the traffic management will be in place to keep workers safe. It will be clearly signposted for all motorists, who are advised to allow sufficient travel time.
Wales & West Utilities Robert Rose is managing this work and said:
“This work is essential to ensure gas continues to be delivered safely to homes and businesses in the area.
“We recognise the importance of maintaining a safe and reliable gas supply, and we appreciate that carrying out work in locations like this can cause disruption. We would like to thank the local community for their patience while we undertake this work and to assure them that our teams will be working as quickly and safely as possible to complete the work and remove all traffic management.
“We ask motorists to follow the signed diversions while these works are in progress.”
