A refurbished community hub has officially reopened at Trumps Court in Sidmouth, with residents invited to celebrate the improvements at a special afternoon tea and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The event marked the completion of a major programme of works by East Devon District Council at the sheltered housing scheme, which comprises 20 flats, a community centre and courtyard garden.
It marks the latest investment in community facilities by the council and underlines its commitment to creating thriving, connected communities where residents feel supported and included.
The project saw significant improvements to both the building and communal areas, with upgrades designed to enhance security, energy efficiency and residents' quality of life.
Works included new windows, cavity wall insulation, replacement communal and flat entrance doors, a new door entry system, external repairs and decoration, and the refurbishment of internal communal spaces.
As part of the programme, the community centre was also completely refurbished to create a modern, welcoming environment where people can meet, take part in activities and build stronger connections with their neighbours. A new entrance was created, allowing it to be used independently without affecting the privacy and security of residents living in the flats.
Additional enhancements included upgraded fire detection systems, improved bin storage, new mobility scooter garages with charging facilities, clothes drying area and the re-turfing of the communal courtyard garden.
