People and organisations in Exeter that have gone above and beyond for the city have been honoured at the Lord Mayor of Exeter’s Commendation Awards.
The Awards are held every year to honour people for their service and dedication to the city of Exeter.
The Awards were held at Exeter’s historic Guildhall and was one of last year’s Lord Mayor, Cllr Anne Jobson’s last official engagements.
A total of nine awards were handed out on the night.
Probably the most jaw-dropping commendation was the award given to 11-year-old Yuktha R Manoj, for gaining a place in the Guinness Book of Records 2025 for identifying the most – 77 – country calling codes in one minute. This was achieved in Exeter on 19 July 2025 and driven by Yuktha’s passion for geography and numerical patterns.
The other awards went to:
- Martin Berry, of Northcott Theatre, for outstanding service to the provision of theatre in Exeter
- Cadet Samuel Parry, of Devon Army Cadet Service, for outstanding service and dedication to Devon’s Army Cadet Force
- Edith Chinnah, of Nigerian Community in Exeter, for outstanding service to the Nigerian community in Exeter and the promotion of Exeter as a culturally diverse city
- Sue Errington and Sandhya Dave, of Devon Development Education, for outstanding service to Devon Development Education and the promotion of Exeter as a culturally diverse city
- Exeter Classic Motorbikes, for their outstanding service to charity and the promotion of the Classic Motorbike Annual Dartmoor Run
- Cygnet Theatre, for promoting dance, music and a range of theatre performances that together add to Exeter as a diverse cultural city.
- St Nicholas Priory, for outstanding service in keeping the priory, a building dating back to 1087, accessible to the public with a wide range of events and activities.
